Hard Rock Academy: Performance Vocals
Hard Rock Academy Performance Vocals DVD download free. Take your performance to the next level with this Hard Rock Academy Performance Series DVD. This entertaining instructional DVD shows you how to enhance your vocal performance by introducing you to many of the techniques used by some of music's biggest stars.
The DVD shows you how to "find your flava", teaches you how to control your breathing, gives you a valuable way to warm up properly, explains how to make your song yours and shares with you professional tips on performing on stage. Author Kenn Hicks, as seen on VH1's Divas, has coached stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Vanessa Williams, Sting, Mary J. Blije and Jodeci. Producer Marcus Miller has worked with Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Holiday, Chaka Khan and many others. Top knotch advise here from some of the best.
Well, if you follow through on all the expert points given, you WILL see and hear results. This is a DVD especially suited for those who are already performing though. Still it adds polish and those finishing touches every artist longs for.
The teacher, Mr. Hicks, has had operatic training but those methods are the best basis for all styles of singing. Very well laid out and the lessons themselves are not boring at all but packed with usable tips that will take you to the next level. Once again, this DVD is best for those with some vocal or performance experience.
Ken Hicks does a great job working two mid-level (talent-wise) singers through several good exercises and problem areas that many singers face on a regular basis. The fast-paced format of the video keeps the viewer interested while the exercises and pointers are good enough to last any singer a lifetime. Marcus Miller's little interjections serve to both lighten the mood at times and to make good points.
This is a very nice tutorial, which can definitely help many new singers. It has all the right techniques of singing for pop performers. Not so much for rock singers, but that's not really a drawback. If you do want to sing in the rock style, I would recommend Jamie Vendera's books. Other than that, this DVD is a nice and easy approach to pop singing, and it is fun to watch.
