Masterclass from a master. Great to hear this wizard in action and watch his technique as well as learn some of his most well known licks. Watch and follow is the best way to do this rather than trying to follow any tabulation formula that might come with this DVD.
It is not perfect but to have the Master Albert Lee showing some extraordinary licks is pure gold dust. First and as the title suggests - it is a kind of 'Masterclass' it is not for beginners being aimed more at Intermediate to Advanced players who want some insight into top class country guitar - you need to know your scales and basic music theory to understand the double stops and triads that are being used over which keys.
The video gives very a clear view of the left hand fingering for 20 licks. Not all the licks are that useful (see below) but a large number are just gold dust and incredible and clearly show Albert's style. They have got me thinking how to modify them and develop my own double stop licks to incorporate them into my own playing.
Albert plays these licks much too fast for any normal human to follow them note for note - he is no teacher and seems to have no comprehension of what 'slow' means. He says he will slow it down and it slows down about 10% LOL. Out of the 20 licks some are using a B-Bender - which is a waste of time if you don't have a Telecaster fitted with a B-Bender. Also he doesn't mention which key or chords he is playing over - so you need to know that or be able to work it out.
