Also includes transcriptions of bass lines and solos by dozens of the greatest jazz bassists.
A great book teaching you the ways of the fretboard, scales and so on. This book has been around for many years and there is a reason for it. A must for all beginners who really want to learn the bass and the theory behind playeing the bass, without it being too theoretic. More advanced players may also benefit from this book, but chances are you already know most of it by now.
This is really the only book you need to go from beginner to advanced. It's clearly written and well structured. It covers a lot of ground from basic theory, scales and intervals to chords and soloing. Has a number of transcribed bass lines in the back also. Great material!
