Play Guitar With The Smiths
Aug 22 2016
Discover the pure pop magic of one of the quintessential British rock Guitar players, Johnny Marr, with this collection of Smiths classics for you to learn. Six of the band’s biggest and best songs are presented here with a specially recorded set of professional-quality backing tracks, so that you can play along note-for-note. The CD also contains a full set of demonstration tracks so that you can hear how things should really sound, and able to listen closely to any challenging riffs or phrases.
All the riffs and lines from Marr’s intricate playing are provided in both notation and Tab, complete with lyrics and chords. Songs include the lilting This Charming Man and The Boy With The Thorn In His Side alongside the thundering Bigmouth Strikes Again.
The band on the CD isn’t too bad. Some of the dense layering is gone from the original tracks but that is a good thing. You can see where the remaining tracks fit together. As an added bonus you can really hear Rourke’s basslines. You can play this CD as background and it won’t drive you crazy. Good stuff. Marr would tune his guitars up and do different things to them. These transcriptions seem to be rather close and certainly in the “feel” of the original songs. This book is just recordings and doesn’t have the “slow down / pitch control” software.
