Country music is genre of American popular music that originated in the agrarian regions of the Southern United States in the 1920s. It takes its roots from southeastern American folk music, Western cowboy. Blues mode has been used extensively throughout its recorded history. Country music often consists of ballads and dance tunes with generally simple forms and harmonies accompanied by mostly string instruments such as banjoes, electric and acoustic guitars, fiddles, and harmonicas.
Having roots in Folk, Celtic, and Gospel music, Country and Country Western evolved rapidly in the 1920’s. This genre of music has spawned two of the top selling solo artists of all time. Elvis Presley, and Garth Brooks. In his country series, DJ explores some of the roots of country music, and goes on to bring you an expanded look at contemporary country.
