Frank Gambale – Monster Licks And Speed Picking
Sep 09 2013
This video details Frank’s innovative speed/sweep picking technique and presents a method for developing “monster licks.” He demonstrates his picking technique in the context of scales, pentatonics, arpeggios, and triad examples, playing each slowly so that you can play along.
Gambale is one of the best clinician / teachers around. His detailed descriptions, consistent applications, and integrated theoretical explanations can educate anyone! Even if you’re never as great at the technique as he is you’ll be better as a player.
No wonder Frank Gambale is dubbed the King of Sweep-Picking on guitar. His sweeps are more difficult to execute than your average Malmsteen sweeps. It however sounds jazzy and fusiony which will add sophistication and sassiness to your technique once mastered. Frank is also a great teacher. He also demonstrates economy-picking which will add fluidity, almost legato-like effect to your scale-runs. These techniques once mastered will have you shredding. The only thing then left for you to do is to then practice, practice and practice.
